How To Prepare For An Exam In A Week

If you are a student love them or hate them,   exams are an important part so it's  hard to get away from exams. There are different kind or exams,  some are more difficult than others, but the same technique can be use to tackle all of them, and I will be sharing some of those technique today,  intimately,  there's just no shortcut for knowing all the materials. However, even if it's the night before your final exam and you are feeling unprepared, don't panic. There are things you can do to help you pass your exams. The techniques I will be sharing are very practical and they are applicable to any exam.
Getting ready for your exam efficiently
comes from learning how to study
smarter, not harder. Trust us. You’ll
become more aware of this fact as the
years go on and you advance in your
education.
As time passes, more and more of your
classes will only get tougher, and you’ll
end up always having to burn the
midnight oil if you haven’t developed
the proper study habits.
Here are the top 10 study tips from
researchers and scientists that will tell
you how to pass any exam

1-Know where you stand in class
It is important to know where your grades you knowing this will help you to know how much time you need you devote to studying for the exam
2-understand how you study best
Understand how you study best.
Every individual learns differently.
Knowing the conditions under which you
study best will help you most effectively
learn and retain information that you need
for your exam.
For example, if you know that you
need absolute silence to concentrate
on the material you need to learn,
you can either study in a library or in
a quiet room at home. You may also
be someone who needs a little noise
or commotion to help you focus.
”Multitasking” is a myth. While you
might think you’re able to watch TV,
text your friends, and study for exams
at the same time, your brain simply
can’t handle that many competing
streams of information. Give yourself
some quiet, dedicated study time,
and leave the other stuff for your
leisure time.
3-Understand the marking scheme
this is one thing I try to do before sitting for any exam. You should find out which
questions carry the most points
especially in cases where you have both
essay and multiple choice questions. This
will help you to set your priorities right
and effectively manage your time.
4-Believe in yourself
this point cannot be overemphasized. Always believe in yourself  and your ability. Your attitude to any exam should be; “if only one candidate will pass this exam, it will surely  be me”. This kind of faith will put anything you want in your hands.
5-Treat past questions
past questions are often repeated in a lot of examinations. But even when they are not, questions are usually set with the same structure every year. Treating past questions will give you a good idea of the types of questions to expect and what to do when faced with similar questions. Another
advantage of treating past questions is
they boost your confidence. Your
confidence increases with every question
you answer correctly.
6-Get distractions away
If you really want to study effectively,
here is the kicker:
Put aside all of your social networks,
mobile apps, and computer games
during your study sessions. If you can’t
resist the urge to check notifications or
reply to messages, search for an app
that will block all sources of
distractions for a certain period.
There are some extensions and mobile
apps that may help.
For example, StayFocusd and
WasteNoTime allow you to block
particular websites or set limitations on
them. You can spend 30 minutes on
Facebook, but then it will be locked for
the next 2 hours. Go ahead and devote all your attention to the test!
7- Divide studying into sessions
Going to try and learn everything in one
night by reading your study materials
over and over again?
Contrary to popular belief, cramming
doesn’t work.
In fact, it can cause more harm than
help. It’s better to plan everything
ahead of time and spread out your
study periods for at least one week
before the exam. In this way, you will
have enough time to develop a deeper
understanding of the subject.
For better long-term retention of
knowledge, be sure to take regular
breaks. Take time to go outside and
enjoy nature or to do something that
you enjoy.
Divide your studying into sessions of
just 20 to 30 minutes, and focus on a
single topic during each session.
Always try to think of multiple ways to
use the same information—that’s one
of the most effective study skills.
It’s also important to understand what
tasks will lead you to your goal fast and
well. That’s why you should make a to-
do list including all the topics,
exercises, papers, and materials
needed.
8-Group up with your friends
One of the best ways to study
effectively is to cooperate with your
friends. Group study is the perfect
opportunity to compare class notes and
discuss any especially complicated
concepts you think will be given in the
test.
Group study for the test can be
effective if all group members are
disciplined and results-oriented.
Moreover, you need to meet frequently
enough to understand each other's
strengths and weaknesses.
Some group members may share some
tips to pass the exam easier, that you
didn’t know yet.
Making up questions for each other and
meeting to compare answers is an
excellent idea, as well as giving each
other timed quizzes to become familiar
with working under pressure.
Make sure each member contributes to
the group work by having a
conversation on this topic on the very
first day.
9-Test yourself
For individual studying, try a study card
technique, like flash cards, or download
an app to make a quiz of your own .
Use information from the notes you
have taken while studying so that the
material on the cards is clear to you.
To use flash cards to their highest, keep these tips in mind:
Make flashcards with basic definitions
and concepts, mix them up, and pick
out two to three cards to begin with.
After learning the material from these
cards, choose one more and go on.
When you have six cards, start dropping
one of the original ones and continue
until you have learned all of them.
Repeat two to three times a day for 15
to 20 minutes, and you are ready to go.
Consider making physical copies of
your flashcards so you can carry them
around and use at any time.
And  now to the test part!

And the most important you must
*Get enough rest. It may sound like a
good idea to stay up all night
cramming, but without sleep, your brain
just won’t function. Almost all students
pull all-nighters at some point, but they
can have damaging effects on your brain
for up to four days.

*Eat well. If you’re not eating properly,
your brain won’t be able to function
at its best. Getting enough nutrients will
allow your body and brain to function
optimally on exam day and while you
study. Make sure that you eat at regular
intervals and don’t mindlessly snack on
junk.

*Stay hydrated. It’s tempting to load
up on caffeinated beverages when
you’re studying for final exams, but be
careful. Caffeine is a diuretic, meaning it
will dehydrate you. It can also give you a
wicked case of the caffeine jitters.
Dehydration can cause fatigue, so drink
plenty of plain, clear water.
Men need, on average, 13 cups (3
liters) of water per day. Women need
about 9 cups (2.2 liters) of water per
day.
Get yourself a refillable water bottle.
You may be more likely to drink water
from a bottle than a glass, especially
if you often drink bottled soft drinks.
Avoid alcohol, especially the night
before a big exam. In addition to the
hangovers and other nasty side
effects, alcohol dehydrates you,
which can cause fatigue on test day.
And lastly
10-Relax and don't worry after the test
We know, it sounds impossible.
Especially when you face final exams in
a high school, IELTS, or other
significant tests.
But worrying will not change your
grade, but it can negatively affect your
next one. Instead, put your focus right
away on the next exam.
After you get your test back, look
through it to find the questions you
missed. If the teacher reviews the test
in class, get ready to ask questions.
If you disagree with your exam grade,
respectfully approach your teacher to
get it explained. Remember that what
you can learn from your mistakes is
often more important than the grade
itself .
Now you know how to pass any exam
successfully. Go ahead and try these
tips out!
